SOOOO, Caleb turns 9 in a couple weeks and we are already entering the world of orthodontia with him. They said that Sam could wait a year but Caleb needs help ASAP! (We already suspected that but were hoping for more time to save up more $$$ first)! Anyway, the first order of business was to have a tooth pulled. It was an "extra" adult tooth that came in behind where the top front teeth should be. It came in sorta in the roof of his mouth! Anyway, he was VERY brave at the dentist this week when I took him in to have it pulled. I was shocked at how long the root was. Thank goodness they got it out easily. The dentist in Tulsa wanted to send us to an oral surgeon to pull it! Anyway, we'll begin orthodontic appliances next month and within a year, Caleb should have a beautiful smile. Just in time for us to pay it off and start Sam's treatment!

Tyler's already been through orthodontic treatment. He had a retainer to straighten out a tooth in second grade that totally came in sideways and was cutting his lip from a pool accident that happened the year before. He wore his retainer fine but was supposed to keep it on for at least a year. Of course he lost it after 8-9 months. He had a bad habit of not putting his appliance in the box while brushing his teeth..and it got knocked off the counter into the trash, and of course that was history. We only realized that this must've been what happened, the next morning after the trash man had come ( I had frantically gone around emptying the trash cans earlier in the morning and didn't realize that he had a missing appliance!)...Kids!! It's been 9 months since then and the tooth seems to be doing okay..still unsure if he'll more work in the future!! Have fun!!
