Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater

A few interesting (to me) bits about Peter:
1. He has recently graduated from taking baths to showers. He LOVES it! He wants to shower 2-3 times a day. I can totally understand the appeal of a long hot shower, of course...what I can't understand is why he doesn't get bored in there. I mean, there are NO toys, nothing to do but stare at the curtain which is plain white. I can't understand why this 5 yr. old can be bored to death at the Bronx Zoo, and the New York Aquarium but have a great time taking a shower. I'm trying to limit him to one a day. The other day, as I was getting out of the shower for the 2nd time that day (just got home from the gym) he said he wanted to take a shower. I reminded him that he'd already had one that morning. He said, "Well, you took 2 showers!" And I said, yes, but I just got home from the gym...to which he replied, "Well, so did I." (He goes with me and plays in the daycare for an hour while I teach). I wasn't sure how to respond to that but was able to distract him with lunchtime!
2. He has a new fascination: the calculator. He loves to follow us around and make us ask him "math questions" which he inputs into the calculator and then tells us the answer. It's cute for awhile but gets real old, real fast. Anyway, to amuse myself, I've started only giving him questions that give the answer of TEN. 2+8, 6+4, 17-7, 5x2, etc. He laughs hysterically each time when the answer comes out to be the same no matter what! Sam and Caleb have jumped on the bandwagon, too, as I heard Sam asking him yesterday what the square root of 100 is. He just can't wrap his mind around the fact that 5+5=10 AND 8+2=10...ahh, to be young again.
3. He is freakishly good at sports. Both Sam and Caleb are good at sports, too, but Peter (at only 5 yrs. old) seems to have supernatural talent...not that we're biased parents or anything! Maybe it's because he plays sports in the backyard with two older brothers and that's made him really good at it. We'll see...but I'M thinking college scholarship, please, please, please!
